Heather Beatty
Heather Beatty is a next generation thinker and leader in climate and impact investing. Over the last 15+ years, she has held top leadership positions including Head of Global Consultant Relations, at world class financial institutions First Eagle Investments, Thornburg Investment Management and TCW.
At First Eagle she created and co-chaired the firm’s first Climate Council – an entity responsible for establishing and guiding the direction for how the firm wanted to address climate change.
Heather’s climate-related experience includes partnering with the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator where she developed and presents on ESG, impact and climate investing and works with each cohort to incorporate sustainability into their business model. She is also a board member of One Blue Ocean, a global social change non-profit, where she plays an integral role in setting the vision and executing key initiatives. In addition to her climate related contributions, Heather co-founded Women in Institutional Investments Network (WIIIN), a Los Angeles-based 501c3 as part of her dedication to the advancement.
Perth Tolle
Perth Tolle is the founder of Life + Liberty Indexes and creator of the Freedom 100 EM Index and ETF (FRDM), the world’s first freedom-weighted emerging markets equity strategy. Prior to forming Life + Liberty Indexes, Perth was a private wealth advisor at Fidelity Investments in Los Angeles and Houston. Prior to Fidelity, Perth lived and worked in Beijing and Hong Kong, where her observations led her to explore the relationship between freedom and markets. Perth is a frequent speaker at investment industry events and provides commentary for various financial media including WSJ, Barron’s, CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, Cheddar, MarketWatch, Morningstar, and Institutional Investor.
Perth was named one of the Ten to Watch in 2020 by Wealth Management Magazine and one of the 100 People Transforming Business by Business Insider in 2021. The FRDM index and ETF were voted “Index of the Year” and “Best New International/Global Equity ETF 2019” by etf.com.
Elysabeth Alfano
Elysabeth Alfano is the CEO of VegTechTM Invest, the advisor to the Plant-based Innovation & Climate ETF, EATV. With EATV, VegTechTM Invest has created a completely new impact asset class: plant-based innovation and alternative proteins in the capital markets.
Elysabeth is a plant-based industry expert and speaks internationally on the intersection of investing, sustainability, and our global food supply system. She recently spoke at the U.N. Global Leaders Compact Summit, the United Nations Climate Change Summit, COP27, and Yale University. A graduate of Northwestern University and the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Elysabeth started her career at Kellogg’s working on Special K and Frosted Mini-Wheats. She continues her impact on and leadership with major food companies today. As a renowned and respected thought leader in the plant-based business sector, Elysabeth consults and advises, through her company Plant Powered Consulting, multinationals and C-Suite Executives on the industry landscape, direction and whitespaces. Lastly, Elysabeth hosts the Plantbased Business Hour, which features the CEOs and business leaders in the industry. The Plantbased Business Hour is considered “The Gold Standard” for those who want to understand, participate in, and capitalize on this megatrend. She contributes to ESG Clarity, Vegconomist and FinTechTV on a regular basis.

Executive Director, Brandes Center at UC San Diego Rady School of Management
Bob directs all aspects of the investment-focused Brandes Center. He also is a part-time lecturer in the Master of Finance and Master of Accounting programs at the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego. Mr. Schmidt’s previous role was heading the Brandes Institute, an investment think tank associated with Brandes Investment Partners. Prior to joining Brandes in 2000, he worked as Head Writer with Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management and Associate Vice President with Western Financial Corp. Mr. Schmidt earned a BA (magna cum laude) from Duquesne University and an MA from California State University, San Marcos.
